SOUTH ENERGY INSTALLS SOLAR PANELS ACROSS 10 BUILDINGS AT SAKANY, PROVIDES 35% CLEAN ENERGY FROM THE TOTAL CONSUMPTION
South Energy, a leading energy provider, has announced the successful installation of solar panels across 10 buildings at Sakany, the first leasehold staff accommodation development at Dubai South, with a capacity of 933 kWp. 35% of the buildings’ consumption will be supplied by clean energy generated from the solar plant.
The new initiative by South Energy aligns with its mandate to contribute to the government’s ongoing sustainability efforts, especially with 2023 being the ‘Year of Sustainability’ and the UAE hosting COP 28, the international climate convention held annually by the United Nations.
South Energy, which is located at Dubai South, was established in 2017 as a key driver for sustainable development, supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy. South Energy offers many energy solutions, including renewable energy, energy-saving retrofits, district cooling, and a centralised gas farm.
Sakany represents a regional benchmark for staff accommodation that emphasises resident welfare. Its state-of-the-art features and amenities include a multi-purpose hall in each building; landscaped courtyards; bicycle racks; covered bus shelters; a sports complex, comprising football and cricket pitches and two badminton, two basketball, and two volleyball courts; and well-equipped medical rooms.
